About

The Company, formerly called JRG Reinsurance Company Ltd., was incorporated in November 2007 in Bermuda and is licensed as a Class 3B insurer by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (the “BMA”) under the Insurance Act 1978. FIRe primarily provided casualty reinsurance to U.S. third parties distributed through traditional reinsurance brokers, and structured reinsurance contracts usually as quota share arrangements. The Company’s underwriting activities were suspended in 2023 and it then operated in the legacy insurance market.

As a result of concerns regarding its cashflow solvency, FIRe applied to the Court for the appointment of joint provisional liquidators, and Simon Appell and Daniel Imison of AlixPartners UK LLP, and Mathew Clingerman of Kroll Bermuda Ltd. (“JPLs”), were appointed on 21 October 2025 for restructuring purposes only. The Company is now proposing to implement a Scheme of Arrangement pursuant to sections 99 and 100 of the Companies Act 1981 as a better alternative to liquidation. This is explained fully in the Explanatory Statement which you should already have received, and which can also be downloaded from this website on the ‘Scheme of Arrangement documents’ tab.
